History and Funding

EESCN was established as a virtual organisation in 2004 with a three year grant from the East of England Development Agency under the DTI’s Harnessing Genomics Initiative. The Network was managed by a team at The Cambridge Genetics Knowledge Park (CGKP) led by Dr Ron Zimmern until March 2007 when CGKP became the Public Health Genetics Foundation.

In September 2007, EESCN successfully bid to EEDA, via tender, for the running of a regional stem cell network. The contract commenced on 1 October 2007 and ended on 30 September 2009.  EESCN is grateful to its sponsors for their support.  The network is seeking further sources of funding to enable it to continue its work.
